With this Cat.5e T-adapter you implement cable sharing: Two 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet connections run over an existing twisted-pair cable. Plug the RJ45 plug into a wall outlet or patch panel, the two RJ45 sockets provide two separate ports. At the other end of the cable, a second identical adapter splits the signals again so that both devices are connected as usual.
This facilitates expansions in existing infrastructures, especially in on-site installations and service deployments when additional connections are needed at short notice. In professional IT environments of companies and public institutions, additional port capacity is quickly available without planning structural modifications.
